Comic plug!

We here at Boxedfoxsoft love our web comics and we love our furry web comics even more! So we're giving a plug to http://curtailedcomic.com. We've been reading through the comic and enjoying the humour, for example:

So over the past few days our accounts have been getting locked, this seems in part due to some botnet trying to brute force logins. We've added some mitigations to stop this and unlocked affected accounts. I also took the time to fix the Twitter feed and share buttons too!

Greetings!

Hello there, my name is Aderis Kyle Drago, or just Aderis. I've joined Boxedfoxsoft as a jack-of-all-trades member, the local Spanish speaker, a programming apprentice and a bit of an artist.

I've been working with computers since I was 12 years old, when I disassembled my very first computer (an Acer 486SX) only one month after getting it. Since then, I've spent these years learning what I can by myself.

In my free time I fix computers and sometimes write some literature. I've been an avid fan of RPG games of all kinds, and I am planning to make my own fantasy Action RPG.

It's a short introduction, but I hope you'll get to know me more and I get more and more involved. I shall see you in our forums.

KDE multiple screen issues

KDE multiple screen issues

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here. We've been busy - and perhaps I've been playing a bit too much Guild Wars 2. ;)

Recently I added a third screen to my system, and this only made the existing multi-screen issues I had with KDE even worse. Finally, I decided to do something about it, hunting down each issue one by one and fixing it. This post is just to serve as a guide to fixing these problems.

The good habit of planning processes

The good habit of planning processes

When you're doing data processing or any project for that matter. It's good to define some standards on how you'll go about "processing" things for lack of a better word. I've worked on a lot of small projects over the years most never seeing release and I have found over time it's very important to have a well defined process.

So write documents on how to code, how you'd like your indentation to be done etc. This not only helps you remember where your project is but also helps others when they join in to help you on your project (and I forget what I am doing when I put something down all the time, RPGs included). Over time everyone will probably come to this conclusion so here's an early heads up to save you time.
